Exercise Therapy

The right stretches and exercises - let's call it movement - could help you get out of pain, return to favorite activities that you are avoiding, and dramatically improve your quality of life. But there are thousands of movements for hundreds of body parts and which ones are right for you? That is the question to ask if you want to learn exactly what to do to feel better and return to your favorite activities.

If you or a loved one are in pain or avoid fun in fear of pain it is best to learn the specific movements that will rehab your particular problem. Usually what's needed is a combination of strengthening weak, sluggish, lazy muscles and getting overly hard working muscles to chill out a little. Many people achieve great results by doing as few as five to ten simple stretches and exercises on a regular basis.  The key of course is doing the most important ones for you.

While there are endless ways to stretch and work out muscles, bad technique could make your problems even worse. The good news for residents living in the vicinity of Wilton, CT, is that you can learn exercise therapy by working with me, Dr. Leonard Fox, at Georgetown Chiropractic. Georgetown, of course, is the meeting point for Redding, Ridgefield, Wilton and Weston, so the office is convenient for many.

By working with a professional, you can reduce the risk of performing a workout incorrectly, which won't help you and could aggravate your  pain. The goal at Georgetown Chiropractic is always to provide pain relief, in the office and by teaching you what to do - and avoid - at home. I will teach you each exercise, and you'll understand just what to do.

Most of the movements are simple to do, although you might feel weak or sore doing some of them at first. That usually improves very quickly. By our focusing on your weak and tight areas, over time it will get easier and then you can learn harder ones! All with the goal of strengthening  the weak links in your chain so you feel better and reduce the risk of the same problem coming back. We all have weak links, from the combination of genetics and the life that we have lived.

If you live in or near Wilton, CT, and need help with therapeutic exercise, come see me. Once you learn how to do the routines properly in the office, you should continue to do them at home to help get you out of pain, return to your favorite activities, and enjoy better health. As a bonus, this will help the same problem from returning again.
